Firstly, we would like to say hello to all of our new families and those families who may be returning with their younger children. We have created this webpage to support all of our new starters for September 2023. We are working hard to ensure the very best start for your child at our school. It is such an exciting adventure to begin your learning journey in Reception and therefore we want it to go as smoothly as possible. This page will be used to provide parents and carers with relevant information for their child. Please keep checking back on this page for the latest developments and information.

Frequently Asked Questions
What uniform does my child need to wear? And where can I buy school Logo items?
Please see our school uniform pages under each schools section of the website to find out information about our school uniform and where to purchase this from.
What happens at lunch time?
Lunch is at 12 noon. Children will wash their hands for lunch and then line up in the corridor ready to collect a coloured band, depending on what they have chosen for lunch. Children then make their way to the school hall where they will be given their lunch. Children sit with their friends at the large tables and with those having packed lunch. Our lunch time supervisors are there to help the children. During the first few weeks, Year 6 buddies will help the reception children at lunchtime.
Does my child get a free meal?
All children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 are entitled to universal free school meals. A copy of the menu can be found under the parents tab on the website. If you are planning on providing your child with a packed lunch, could you please let a member of staff know.
Will they have a snack?
Snack will be provided each day, this is usually apples, pears, bananas or oranges. Children under the age of 5 are entitled to free milk. Please bring water in a water bottle to keep in class.
What time does school start/finish? Where do I pick up/ drop off?
Doors open at 8.45am, register closes at 8.50am. School finishes at 3:15pm.
Will there be a staggered start to the term?
There will be a short transition at the beginning of September and those ready to begin full time can start on Thursday 7th September. If your child needs a longer transition then this can be arranged.
What should I do if I have any concerns or worries about my child?
If you have any concerns or worries about your child please feel free to speak to the class teacher or contact them via email or Class Dojo.
Do they need wellington boots/outdoor clothing?
In reception the children can spend a lot of time outdoors, therefore it is a good idea if children have wellington boots that they are able to keep in school and bring a coat every day.
Is wrap around care offered, and how do we arrange this?
Please contact the school office if you would like to find out about before/after school clubs.
Can I park on site?
Unfortunately we do not offer any parking on site. If your child is attending Swaffham Prior, you can park in the village hall car park and then walk through the gate to the main playground during drop off and pick up times. If your child is attending Swaffham Bulbeck, you will need to park on the high street, but please take care not to park on the areas indicated outside the school.
