Welcome to Doves Class
Dove Class (Year 1 and Year 2) is taught by Mrs Doggett. The class is supported by Mrs Kent. We have also welcomed Mrs Rice who will be working in Dove Class as a trainee teacher until July.
We have a lovely, bright classroom with plenty of space, an inviting reading corner and lots of resources which children can access independently. We also have an area outside of the classroom that can be used for group work. Continuous provision is set up and linked to the terms topic, where the children can enhance their learning through play. Our courtyard is an area where the children can take their learning outside.
In Year 1, children begin to develop their ability to be more independent and engage in their learning in a more structured way, while still having plenty of opportunities for creativity, exploration and adventure. Children in Year 2 are then able to build on these important skills and embed their understanding of key concepts in readiness for Key Stage 2.

Remember to bring the following items to school each day:

- reading book and reading record in your book bag

Our Learning
Due to being a mixed age class with Year 1 and Year 2 combined in one class, we use a 2-year rolling programme of study which means that, over the course of their two years in Dove Class, children will cover all areas of the Year 1 and Year 2 National Curriculum.

In the Summer Term 2023, our topic is 'Sun, Sand and Sea'. We'll be learning about the history of how the seaside has changed from Victorian times to present day and the key features of coastal areas in our geography lessons.
